The colour of Conté à Paris Sanguine pencils is unique. With a sharpened lead, the line is precise and the colour is transparent if the work is lightly sketched. With a half-ground lead, the opacity is accentuated, also depending on the pressure applied. 
The white pencil from Conté in Paris is mainly used with a sharpened lead, the line is dry and the colour transparent.
Crayon Graphite has a particularly silky lead, which does not scratch the paper and glides pleasantly over the surface. The modern graphite lead, made from a mixture of clay and graphite, allows the hardness of the lead to be graduated.
